About The Project

AI4VET – Transforming Vocational Education Through AI and Future Classroom Labs is a European cooperation project funded under the Erasmus+ Programme (KA220-VET).

The project addresses the urgent need to modernise vocational education and training (VET) systems by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching, learning, and guidance processes. As labour markets evolve rapidly and digital skills become increasingly essential, VET providers face growing challenges in responding to diverse learner needs, technological change, and inclusion requirements.

AI4VET supports this transition by offering practical tools, structured frameworks, and innovative learning environments that enable educators and institutions to adopt AI in a responsible, inclusive, and pedagogically meaningful way.

Project duration 24 months: start 01/11/2025, end 31/10/2027.

Project Context

Across Europe, VET systems play a crucial role in preparing learners for employment and lifelong learning. However, many VET educators and institutions still rely on traditional teaching approaches that do not fully reflect:
  • The diversity of learners’ backgrounds and abilities
  • The pace of digital and technological transformation
  • The need for personalised and flexible learning pathways

Artificial intelligence offers new opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness, learner engagement, and accessibility. At the same time, educators often lack the guidance, confidence, and structured support needed to integrate AI into their daily practice.

AI4VET responds to this gap by combining educational innovation, digital transformation, and social inclusion, in line with European priorities for education and training.

Project Objectives

The overall objective of AI4VET is to empower VET educators and institutions to integrate artificial intelligence into vocational education in a way that is effective, inclusive, and sustainable.

The specific objectives of the project are to:

  • Strengthen the AI competences of VET educators and trainers
  • Support the use of AI tools in teaching, assessment, and learner guidance
  • Promote learner-centred and inclusive educational approaches
  • Develop and pilot AI-powered Future Classroom Labs
  • Create transferable frameworks and resources for VET institutions across Europe

Target Groups

AI4VET is designed to support multiple target groups within the VET ecosystem:
VET educators and trainers
seeking practical AI-based teaching solutions
VET learners
including those with fewer opportunities
VET institutions and training centers
aiming to modernize their practices
Education stakeholders and policymakers
interested in innovation in VET

Methodological Approach

AI4VET follows a practice-oriented and collaborative approach, combining research, capacity building, piloting, and dissemination.
  • Development of an AI-Enhanced VET Framework for educators
  • Creation of AI-supported guidance models for curriculum design and learning pathways
  • Design and piloting of Future Classroom Labs integrating AI tools and inclusive pedagogy
  • Continuous evaluation, dissemination, and sustainability planning
  • Transnational trainings and local pilot activities
This approach ensures that project results are not only innovative but also usable and transferable.

Expected Results and Impact

Through its activities and outputs, AI4VET aims to achieve the following results:
Improved digital and AI competences among VET educators
Increased use of AI-enhanced teaching and guidance methods
More inclusive and personalised learning environments for VET learners
Strengthened institutional capacity for digital transformation
Sustainable, open-access resources that can be reused beyond the project duration

In the long term, AI4VET contributes to innovation, quality improvement, and inclusiveness in vocational education and training across Europe.

European Dimension

AI4VET is implemented by a transnational partnership bringing together organisations from several European countries, each contributing complementary expertise in VET, digital innovation, training, and social inclusion.
